Traditional therapy often focuses primarily on cognitive processes, exploring thoughts and emotions through talk-based methods (*I'm not licensed or qualified to provide these services). In contrast, somatic healing work emphasizes the mind-body connection, addressing physical sensations and stored tension in the body as integral to healing. While both approaches aim to support mental and emotional well-being, somatic work incorporates body awareness, tracking, movement, breath, etc., plus some cognitive processing, to facilitate healing; it's often a more holistic experience.

Somatic work encompasses a broad range of practices focused on the mind-body connection; building nervous system resilience over time by completing stress cycles and creating space for more ventral vagal connection and safety. Breathwork, on the other hand, specifically emphasizes the use of breath as a tool for regulation and accessing deeper states of awareness. While breathwork can be a component of somatic practices, somatic work includes various techniques beyond just breath, aiming for holistic healing and integration.

The timeline for experiencing results varies for each person. Some people notice shifts after a few sessions, while other systems require more time. Healing is a personal journey, and I’ll support you at your own pace.

The number of sessions depends on your individual circumstances. Nervous system healing requires repetition because the body needs time and consistent practice to rewire its responses and establish new patterns of safety and regulation. Through regular engagement in somatic practices, the nervous system learns to release stored tension, adapt to stressors, and cultivate resilience, leading to lasting change and greater well-being. This is why I recommend consistent 1:1 sessions for 4 to 6 months to start. Then, we can discuss how to move forward (many of my clients switch to monthly sessions after this or stay with twice monthly).

Somatic work and the type of breathwork practices I specialize in are designed to be safe, supportive, titrated, and attuned to your unique system's needs. The emphasis is on creating a secure environment where you can explore your experiences without pressure or judgment. You are always in control of the process, and we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. However, these modalities might not be suitable for everyone, as they're different from traditional therapy. We can always set up a call to discuss if you aren't sure where to start (no pressure!)

I currently only offer virtual somatic, breathwork, or combination sessions via Zoom, lasting about 60 minutes each (sometimes 75 minutes, depending on what's arising/education needs). Please make sure you have a quiet, comfortable space and a good internet connection to get the most out of the calls. For breathwork sessions, make sure you have enough space to lie down completely and comfortably with blankets, an eye mask, headphones, comfy clothes, etc. - for somatic sessions, we might use props like pillows, walls, yoga blocks, massage balls, etc.

I understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide at least 24 hours' notice; 48 hours is best. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a cancellation fee or charged in full.
